SIDS & Global Plastics Series

Over the next two years, an Intergovernmental Negotiating Committee (INC) will convene in a series of meetings to develop a new international legally binding instrument on plastic pollution. In line with our ongoing work assisting Small Island Developing States (SIDS) at the United Nations, the Guarini Center, through the support of the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN) and the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation (NORAD), has developed a new webinar series aimed at highlighting SIDS issues as they relate to the development of a new global agreement on plastics.

In this webinar, a panel of  experts  share their insights on the outcomes of INC-1 and explore key issues surrounding the structure and elements of a new global plastics agreement, including potential implications for Small Island Developing States.

In late November 2022, countries came together for the first session of the INC to begin developing a new global agreement on plastic pollution.
