NYU-Cardozo Robotaxi Symposium

May 28, 1:30 pm6:00 pm EDT
In the past year, interest in robotaxis in New York has surged. Last summer, Waymo started testing its vehicles on Manhattan streets. This January, Governor Hochul said she would propose new legislation to authorize deployment of automated vehicles in some parts of the state. In February, she withdrew it under pressure. And in NYC, policymakers have been discussing whether the city should follow suit. This symposium will focus on robotaxi law and policy in New York. Our goal is to enrich the public conversation by bringing together experts from around the country to share their knowledge and experience. There will be two panels: one on the safety of robotaxis, and the other on the impacts of robotaxis in urban areas.  Speakers from academia, government, industry, and nonprofits with a range of views will participate.
