Conference:  Emissions Accounting to Accelerate Decarbonization

Hosted by: Institute for Policy Integrity

Location: Vanderbilt Hall, 40 Washington Square South and livestream

Time: 10:00am-4:00pm

This conference will bring together a wide array of stakeholders to discuss different approaches to carbon-emissions accounting and their potential to make clean-energy-procurement policies and corporate commitments more effective, in the U.S. and internationally.

 

From Forests to Farms:  Tackling the Environmental and Social Impacts of Food Production in Brazil

Co-hosted by: Transparency International Brazil, NYU Wagner, and Guarini Center on Environmental, Energy and Land Use Law

As part of this day-long series of programs, panels of experts and stakeholders will discuss ongoing challenges in addressing the environmental and social impacts of the Brazilian meat supply chain, as well as promising solutions for shifting food production in Brazil towards a more sustainable model.

This panel discussion will bring together changemakers in the climate litigation world to address recent litigation trends in the United States—both offensive and defensive—and will offer perspectives on how governmental and nongovernmental actors can navigate the current litigation landscape to promote a sustainable and just future. 

 

Kawsak Sacha Initiative & the Sciences

Hosted by: TERRA NYU Law and More Than Human Life (MOTH) Project at Center for Human Rights and Global Justice

This panel offers an exploration of the Kawsak Sacha (Living Forest) Initiative and how the sciences have and can support efforts like this to safeguard Indigenous rights and the more-than-human world.

Attorneys General Roundtable: How States Are Protecting the Freedom to Invest Responsibly

In this session, state attorneys general will share strategies their states are using to protect the rights of institutional and individual investors to factor climate-related financial risk into investment decisions.

 

Renewable Realities: Discussing New York’s Progress to Net Zero 

Hosted by: NYU Journal of Legislation and Public Policy

Time: 5:00pm-6:30pm

Location: Lester Pollack Colloquium Room, 245 Sullivan St.

This panel will be a moderated discussion of New York’s progress toward its decarbonization goals under its historic 2019 Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act and the current hurdles to accelerating renewable energy development in the state.
