Sept. 2014 – Using Climate Finance to Transform Global Investment

The recent United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) meeting (March 2014) focused a portion of its work on finding solutions for the realization of near-term mitigation opportunities, particularly in the areas of renewable energy and energy efficiency. For the vast majority of developing countries, access to low-cost capital is a major barrier to the expanded deployment of renewable energy.

Following on the Guarini Center’s annual Abu Dhabi workshop on climate finance, we will be holding a workshop of policy practitioners, finance experts, academics and negotiators to understand how the UNFCCC and it’s bodies, including the Green Climate Fund, can be appropriate mobilized to reduce these barriers.
